Keeping acne under control isn’t an easy task however it does help to understand what products you should and shouldn’t use on your acne-prone skin.
There are different approaches to looking after your skin and getting rid of your acne. If you have very severe acne then talking to a dermatologist is a good idea. There are a number of different products that you can use, including those that can be purchase over the counter. Many of the OTC treatments will include benzoyl peroxide which are included in products by Clearasil and ProActive. The main problems associated with benzoyl peroxide is that it can cause the skin to become red, itchy and flaky. This is why you should start off with the mildest strength which is 2.5%.
Products containing salicylic acid are also very popular and work well to exfoliate the skin and to get rid of debris that can clog the pores. Both Neutrogena and Oxy do a range of products with salicylic acid in them.
In addition to the above products, you might also want to look at sulfur soap. The main complaints regarding sulfur is that is can make your skin dry and red. People aslo tend to complain about the smell.
If, however, you would prefer to try out natural remedies for your acne-prone skin then the good news is that there are many that work very well. The most well-known natural treatment for oil skin is possibly tea tree. It’s a completely natural product that works great for those who have mild acne. Not only that, but there aren’t the side-effects that the other treatments such as benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid cause. There are many products on the market such as soap, cleansers and face masks which contain tea tree oil.
Witch hazel is another natural product that is highly recommended for those with acne. As with tea tree oil, there are many ingredients that contain witch hazel such as toner, soap, aftershave, cream and gel. People who have tried witch hazel on their acne have found it work excellently.
