Do Plus Sized Women Always Have to Wear Black?

Long gone are the days when women over a size 12 have had a lack of fashion choice. Companies, more now than ever, are catering to the plus-sized market. But are you letting yourself down by reaching for black material day after day because you want to look slimmer?

Instead of embracing the exciting array of plus-sized fashion choices, you could be limiting yourself to black because you think it can hide a multitude of bumps and curves more than any other color.

Even women who are naturally slim often get stuck in a rut by selecting black garments because they want to look as sleek as possible. But all that black can be a bit depressing! Yes, black does have the slimming effect, but there are other ways you can find the same effect in more colorful clothing options.

Plus-sized manufacturers are now more aware of designing clothes to accentuate the areas you feel are your best qualities, whether it’s your legs, décolletage, or your arms. The fit of the clothes can have an amazing effect on your appearance without hiding behind black fabric.

Fabrics with prints can help with problem areas like the stomach. And you can find well-fitting clothes for plus sizes in all types of clothing lines, including casual and evening wear, sporting clothes, and even swimsuits. Just because your on the larger side doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a life!

Check out the different online plus sized stores or catalogs and you’ll find a very diverse selection of clothes to suit your needs. You can find clothes for teens, pregnant women and businesswomen.

Accessories such as jewelry, scarves and handbags can also liven up an outfit and conceal areas you may not feel comfortable about. Does that mean you should throw away all of those black clothes you have ready on standby for when you’re feeling uncomfortable about your body?

Of course it’s not necessary but it is something that you should be aware of when shopping for clothes next time. Also mixing and matching black with other colors can help a lot.

Don’t get sucked in by the black trend that leaves you feeling despair if someone gives you a bright yellow sweater for Christmas or a salesperson advises you to try on the exotic leopard print skirt they just got in.
